I like New Women

Bikes! Women and bikes! Women on Wheels! Sisters in Cycling! Cycle Chics! I'm eating it all up. nom nom nom. Perhaps this topic will grow into that undergraduate research I'm trying to create at VT. So far learning about the history of women taking hold of the bicycle for independence has been captivating. Go Women suffragists, she-roes of the bike movement, yay Susan B. Anthony with your wise revolutionary words.

"I think [the bicycle] has done more to emancipate women than anything else in the world. It gives a woman a feeling of freedom and self-reliance. The moment she takes her seat she knows she can't get into harm unless she gets off her bicycle, and away she goes, the picture of free, untrammeled womanhood."

Cycling brought Freedom (Bloomers)

Here's another she-roe, a really cute one: http://cyclingsisters.org/node/59
